This is what the scale read when I stepped on it this morning.
I think it's finally time to do something about it.
To make a long story short my 5'7" frame used to be 145 lbs. I was wearing 6-8's and exercising regularly. In 2005, I was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. The meds they put me on helped me gain 40 pounds in a year. I was up to 185. Then in late 2006 I got pregnant. I quickly gained more weight (a lot of fluid but that's a whole other pregnancy story) and by the time I delivered I was 275! Two weeks after delivery I was down to 225. For the last year and a half I've been fluctuating between 215 and 240 wearing size 18 pants and 3X shirts to cover my huge belly. I've been asked twice recently when I was due - yikes!
My plan is to lose 86 pounds. I'm shooting for a pound a week or a little more. My goal is to be 145 by my birthday, the end of november of 2010. I'm going to walk daily. I'm going to eat more healthfully but mainly, watch my portions. I will have to battle the meds to curb cravings but I can do it. I want to be healthy for eLijAh - we have too many things to do together.
While I don't want this blog to become a weight loss journal , I do want to share this part of my life with you, just as I share all of my creations, eLijAh pics, and other life happenings. I will have "weigh in wednesdays". This will help me stay focused and keep you up to date without making this blog feel yucky.
Okay, enough about that.
I have a blue ridge parkway license plate whose motto is "share the journey"
Thank you for coming along.

Suz,

I can be your soul sister through this. I was recently given a bp diagnosis. I had gained quite a bit of weight over the last few years just from stress eating. But I lost 25 pounds. The quick way to jump start is to cut out soft drinks. I was also walking on the treadmill every day, which is good for our illness. But I need to get back into the swing of it! Email me if you want to converse!

I feel your pain! I want to loose about 45 pounds as well. Not good to be over 40 and carrying around extra weight. I have been watching the new lifetime show, "Cooking yourself thin" and am planning on ordering the cookbook. I don't eat a lot, but what I do eat and mostly what time of day is my downfall. Maybe we can share recipres? Good luck! Pam

SUZ!!! You can do it!!!!!! I'll join ya for weigh in Wednesdays! Three days ago I made a pact with my husband that if he quit smoking I would quit drinking diet coke - This means giving up close to 64 - 100 oz a day of diet coke - cold turkey. SO far so good.... except for the lack of caffein headaches.

Anyway I hope that helps me loose a little lose weight too, even though it's diet soda it has been taking the place of the water I should be drinking.

I wish you lots of luck in this new journey!

Hooray for you!!!! You know you're far from alone on this one, sUz. Keep up the exercise - walking is the one of the best things you can do. It clears your mind and helps your waistline at the same time. I'm going check back and see how you're doing. In the meantime, I'll be cheering, "GO sUz!" Hugs, Lisa

We will all be cheering you on for sure, Suz!!! Thank you for sharing this with us and letting us support your efforts. It's amazing how we all have our own personal challenges to deal with...even when we think we are the only ones. It always helps to have a loving, compassionate circle of friends to keep us motivated and encouraged.

You can do it!! In addition to being an artist I am also a certified personal trainer. If you need any exercise or diet advice please email me! Email everyday if you like! And when I say 'diet', I'm talking about a healthy eating program, not so much an actual 'diet', if you know what I mean. Something you can maintain forever without feeling like your missing out.
I'll join in on weigh in Wednesdays. I've got a few pounds of baby weight to lose and I've been lazy about it. Let's do it together!
You can do it, my friend.

Suz! You can do it! I have been running, walking, crosscountry running for the last 13 years on a daily basis. You have to get a jogging stroller! I have had every one of my three kids in them, and its great, getting out first thing in the morning every day and go for an hour as hard as you can, the weight will FLY off! Tts not about food as much as excersize, so many people think dieting is the key, its not, its getting out there and moving and its a huge energy booster as well! Can't beat the sunlight hitting your retinas and the endorphins from a raised heart rate! Yay! You can do it!
